Whenever someone is aiming to evolve it’s necessary reflecting about cycles coming to an end and other ones about to begin. Looking inside and getting in touch with the feeling is part of a constant pursuit of becoming a better person and then offering to the world a cooler version of ourselves as a person and as a business. It’s an intense movement but interesting.
Would it be dissonant affirming that 2019 was a good year? Despite many political, economic and social adversities that Brazil has been facing we could clearly see many hidden lights and shadows.
It was a cycle of many individual and collective clashes, voices that weren’t heard and speeches that didn´t match – by ideology or absence of empathy, but truth to tell, it was a huge opportunity to deconstruct concepts and to be born again.
It wasn’t different for us though. The year began with a sensation of emptiness and many questions of everything that has been done up to that moment would still make sense from that point on. A normal inquietude when you dedicate yourself entirely to a work and then it finishes – in this case it’s when coffee containers ship into the ocean. All that noise and rush suddenly silent and give voice to a mix of relief and fatigue.
Possibly most people that dedicate intensively to a project must have felt this way after its closing. It’s almost like giving birth to a child, an interesting metaphor as an analogy to this narrative.
Well after the child’s birth, there we were taken again to a bigger purpose – through waters, winds, earth, fire, energies, gods and goddess… – and once more with coffee, but this time from a different perspective as we were open to feel it in a balanced way between mind and heart.
Looking back from December to January more than ever we realize that 2019 was the year of encounters: we’ve been to fairs, lectures, venues, coffee field days and we had many cups of great coffees around the world. We felt how life pulsates when there’s connection and contact.
Besides all learnings – about ourselves and about Coffee – we had to learn about delegating and we’re learning every day to share tasks, which used to be in the hands of Yuki, but now the entrepreneurship grew and it doesn’t fit her hands anymore. The dream spread and it’s now stronger, as Raul Seixas (a classical Brazilian rock singer from the 60’s) would say:
A dream that it’s dreamt alone
is a dream that it’s dreamt alone
but a dream that it’s dreamt together is a reality.
After walking many paths with several challenges, insights, pleasures and reflections we now see the containers shipping, another cycle coming to and end, the child coming to life and the heart beating, not empty nor void, because gratitude occupy most of the space right here and right now.
Greetings to Coffee that allow us to live those insideout trips.
